ABOUT ALEXANDRA EALA

Alexandra Maniego Eala is a professional tennis player from the Philippines, born in Quezon City, on 23 May 2005. She is left-handed and stands 1.75m tall.
Her parents are Michael Eala and Rosemarie “Rizza” Maniego-Eala, a former SEA Games swimming medalist. They encouraged Alex to start playing tennis aged four, and she quickly showed promise.
As a junior, Alex won girls’ doubles titles at the 2020 Australian Open and 2021 French Open. She also made her WTA Tour debut in Miami qualifying during 2021.
It wouldn’t be too much longer before Eala tasted singles success, making history in the process. In 2022, she became the first Filipino player to win a junior Grand Slam singles title, capturing the US Open girls' championship.
Her 2025 breakthrough included a semi-final run at the Miami Open, where she recorded wins over Madison Keys and Iga Swiatek. The same year, Alex made her first WTA final at Eastbourne, and her first WTA 125 title in Guadalajara. The Miami Open performance also made her the first Filipina to reach a WTA 1000 semifinal.
In 2026, Alex Eala won the Washington DC WTA 500, reached the fourth round of Wimbledon, and the third round of the US Open. Her results and performances have continued to establish Alex as one of the leading players on the WTA Tour.
No wonder she’s winning fans all over the world, not only in her native Philippines.
